Riding Experience
Anu relishes a challenge. He has many years of riding experience on a scooter, however, has yet to obtain his motorbike licence! In the coming months, Anu will blog on the project website www.projectmongolia.com of the trials and tribulations of learning how to ride a motor bike in preparation for the 20,000km journey. Stay tuned!
What make you embark on such a journey?
Anu’s long association with the human rights organisation Amnesty International has renewed his commitment to the needs of the less fortunate. He sees Mongolia 2007 as a worthy opportunity to raise money for a children’s shelter in Ulaan Baatar.
Secondly, he sees the project as an avenue to explore new geographies and cultures on two wheels. The Mongolian desert, remote river crossings and unexpected interactions with people living a very different life … he really can’t wait!
What skill do you bring to the team?
In addition to the spirit of collaboration, Anu brings valuable operational skills. He is playing a key role planning the project website, raising funds from sponsors and establishing links with suppliers and authorities.
What do you think will be the hardest part of riding half way across the world?
The off-road section of the trip through Mongolia will not only be the most exhilarating but also the most technically challenging! Oodles of stamina will be required.
What do you think you will miss the most in the two months that you are away?
A comfortable bed, habitual Sunday lunch with friends and a copy of the Economist!
